"I Got You! - Community"

"I Got You! - Community "

Acts 4:32-33 ESV - They Had Everything in Common

32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. 33 And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

“Pax Romana” - The Pax Romana (Latin for “Roman Peace”) is a roughly 200-year-long timespan of Roman history which is identified as a period and golden age of increased as well as sustained Roman imperialism, order, prosperous stability, hegemonial power and expansion…

Sermonic Moves:

“I Got You because…”

  1. We should share core beliefs - not simply a litany of dogmatic assertions, but we should share a belief in GOD’s miraculous power (see Acts 4: 29-31) - we are collectively serving as witnesses to GOD’s power in Christ.
  2. We should be striving to be knitted together heart and soul, which we will learn in a couple of weeks requires our commitment to integrity, hospitality, and sacrifice
    A. Integrity - “being” sincere and authentic in both public AND private.
    B. Hospitality - behavior that is generous and gracious; living out love.
    C. Sacrifice - investing in the lives of others beyond what is comfortable.
  3. We should be emboldened by apostolic authority, the testimony of the Gospel, and the subsequent grace that covers all who believe - I got YOU because GRACE “got” ME!
